An Alaskan Cruise

 Alright I did not go on an Alaskan cruise, nor am I planning on going on one any time soon, although that would be awesome.  But I know that looking at this outfit one might think it is a bit hot for summer (and I would agree).  But since I got this cute sweater, I wanted to pair it with my chambray shirt so let's just think how great this would be in cooler temperatures shall we?

 These aren't the sunglasses that I wanted in this picture, but yet another pair of sunglasses have bitten the dust.  I wish I could blame it on my 2 year old, but this time it was me.  I found them after they were lost and then broke them all within two days.

 Did anyone watch the U.S. tonight in gymnastics?  I think I was a bit teary eyed watching them and was so happy for them.  I was especially happy for Jordyn Wieber.  We were so sad that she couldn't go on to the all around competition, glad she could get that gold.

Peplum and Football Tryouts

 Unexpected title huh?  No, I didn't try out for a football team, but I have to admit, after practicing with Palmer for his tryout this past week, I may have missed my calling in life.  I've got a mean spiral.  I have to admit, I am not the sportiest of girls.  Josh is always a good sport to take me to Jazz games and I sit and tell him whose clothes are cute, or who has cute kids...ya know, I don't really focus on the game.

 I married a die hard sports fan who played every sport when he was growing up and then to top it off we had 4 boys.  I have figured that it is high time I embrace sports and I have actually tried to figure out all of these crazy games. 

 I have definitely gotten better and I have to tell you I know Josh totally loves me like crazy if I can remember who plays for what team, so I have tried to figure it all out.  Our boys play a million sports.  They are in competition soccer, we are also in tennis right now and swimming.  They also play baseball, flag football and basketball during those seasons.  We have not yet experience tackle football however.  In our area you can play at 7 years old .  Thanks to flag football I was able to push it back for as long as possible. 

 Well, the day has come.  He has decided that he would rather do football than anything else.  Josh is thrilled, and I am freaking out. 

 I mean pads?  He is too little for this.  And we are okay with him going out onto a field and getting smashed to the ground?  What?  Who invented this game? 

 Today Palmer had tryouts.  I was totally going to stay home so I didn't freak out, and then I couldn't just stay home so I watched.  I had to keep reminding myself to breath.  Luckily one of Palmer's friends who's mom happens to be my friend was also there and it was much easier watching it with her.  But I was still dying.  We made it though day two and he has to go back tomorrow.  I guess we'll see. 

 And in the mean time this is a very good time for me to learn to calm down and not freak out any time my kids do something new...working on it.

Mint and Coral

 Mint and coral has to be one of the biggest color combinations that I have seen this year and somehow I the lover of color mixing have not yet done it.  Well, on Saturday night for date night the colors were finally mixed (even though nobody really saw them because our date happened to be in a dark movie theater watching Batman...but I knew :)

 Alright, so who is loving the Olympics??  I told you that I was probably going to drive everyone crazy talking about them, but I have been LOVING every second of it.  Tonight I am multitasking watching women's gymnastics and blogging.  Talented right?

 We had a little party with some of our friends for the Opening Ceremonies.  I made Havarti Stuffed Pesto Burgers and Baked Herb and Parmesean Fries with lemon garlic aoli for dinner.  It was sort of amazing if I do say so myself...

 We did face painting and olympics bingo and then face painting (we also had Krispy Kreme donuts of which there are still remnants on Hunter's face) to get into the spirit of things.  My boys would NOT wash it off and the next day they had Olympic shaped smears on their face.

 There were also crafts going on.  Can I tell you what a fun night it was?

We have been watching the Olympics non stop to the point that we had our projector going as well as the TV watching different events.

I am definitely planning on being a major couch potato until they are over.

Hearts and Cheetah

 Once upon a time I had three pair of sunglasses.  I am now down to one...I am not sure it is me or McKay that lost them, but I have been looking frantically for my other two pair and they have disappeared.  Lame.

 You really are going to get so sick of me talking about the Olympics, but tonight I am up late watching the 30 greatest moments in Olympic history and it is so inspiring!

 Even if you aren't into the sports of the Olympics, you have to be excited to at least see the fashion of Kate Middleton during all of the events.  I for one am THRILLED about seeing more of her style.  She is definitely one of my favorites.  I can't wait to see what she wears to the opening ceremonies!!

 The count down to the opening ceremonies of the London Olympics has begun!!

Houndstooth

 Today I was trying to think of what my "go to" outfit was for the summer.  If have to tell you, I think it is a bathing suit and a sunburn.  I didn't even put on a bathing suit last year and this year I have worth them A LOT.  I have loved it.  Most days my laundry pile consists of a million towels and our bathing suits. 

 But some days I like to dress up a bit.  When I was in California this past weekend I took pictures of my little sister and her husband for their 1 year anniversary.  We did them in an orange grove and I was a bit wrinkled at the end because I am all over the place when I take pictures.

 The Olympic coverage has begun!!  We are planning a little party with some friends to watch the opening ceremonies this Friday and tonight Josh and I are watching a rerun of the U.S. vs France soccer game that happened earlier today.  I really do foresee us being total couch potatoes during the Olympics.

 We went to England a few summers ago and fell in love with that country, so it has been so fun to keep seeing different places in London that we loved.

A Day at the Beach

Welcome to my 100th post!  I can't believe that I have posted that many things over the last 5 months!  It has been so much fun and so challenging at the same time.  Thank you so much to all of you who kept me going during those times when it was so frustrating (all you style bloggers out there can probably relate...or maybe it is just me :)  Thank you so much for reading and commenting and being a lot of the reason I do this every day.  I have loved all of you who I feel like I have become "blog friends" with over these past months!!!

Some of you know that I recently went to California for the weekend to visit my little sister and her husband.  Can I tell you how much fun I had.  It was a lot of fun packed into a few days.

 The first night I was there we headed to the Santa Monica Pier.  Funny thing is that I was just watching "The Net" and that is the same pier on the movie...feeling cool.  It really was awesome!!  We saw some definite hilarious stuff going on that night.

Then we proceeded to go shopping.  There is just something awesome about shopping with your sisters.  We had a great time, and my BIL is the champ of the year for sticking it out with us.  What a good sport, seriously.

 The next day we went to a couple of beaches.  I definitely could get used to life close to a beach!

 The weather was pretty cool, so this maxi and cardi were the perfect outfit.

 I love the ease and comfort of a maxi dress, but also how cute and fun they are.   They are one of my favorite pieces for summer.

 The beach was so pretty.  It was fun to get away by myself, but I found myself thinking about how much my kids and Josh would love everything we saw.  We found some tide pools full of star fish, fish, anemones, crab etc and I couldn't help but think of how the boys would think it was so cool.  I am definitely bringing them back some time soon!

 Michelle and Tyler hadn't ever tasted Sprinkles cupcakes before, so we found one and indulges.  I am a bit of a fanatic over them.  I could eat about 4 in one sitting, so it is very good Utah doesn't have one.  This baby was a strawberry, which is my favorite and tasted pretty amazing despite the fact I mashed it...

 Later that night we headed to a different beach to see the sites and catch the most beautiful sunset.  It was SUCH a lovely weekend.

In other news, in honor of Pioneer Day (Utah holiday) we headed to the lake today with some good friends to do a little boating. We haven't been for a very long time and we all had so much fun!

Watching Josh wake board was so awesome.  The guy has some mad skills and I was thinking he was pretty hot as he demonstrated them.

 The boys were in heaven and even when it was time to go they wanted more. 

 This gal (who will probably be ticked at me for posting a picture of her in her bathing suit), is one of my photographers and pretty much one of the coolest girls that I know.  We love her and her family.

 Palmer is on the "Trainer Skis".  It helps kids get ready for real water skiing.  My boys felt like rock stars that they could do this and came back to the boat walking on air.

 I think the tube was the favorite thing of the day.  Josh and I had the wildest ride on it and loved every second of it.  We hope to go again soon!
