Our Day in Instagrams

Today was a crazy day, and I had an outfit post planned...that didn't end up happening.  I decided instead that I would post some of the cute Instagram pictures that I took today.

Last night while I was at a meeting, and Josh took the boys to Krispy Kreme Donuts for a little treat.  They were each given a hat and McKay fell in love.  He wore it to be last night to bed and as soon as he was up, it was on his head again.  I really love 2 year olds.
We had denist appointments today and I can't even tell you how excited my boys get to go to the dentist.  Our dentist has video games for them to play before they go to their appointments and then when they get in there they just watch a movie and it is over....where was that when I was a kid.  I was somewhat traumatized from the dentist.
For the first time ever, McKay actually sat and let the hygenist take pictures, clean his teeth and he let the dentist look at them.  This was a huge step for us.
Today one of my friends and I put together a bulletin board for Green Ribbon Week.  I am on the PTA board this year and it is definitely something new for me!
Tonght was the first USU game of the season.  I have to be honest, I am not a huge sports fan, but I am getting better.  We have season tickets this year so I better figure it out!  I just love to be at the games though, it is definitley a "fallish" thing to do :)  I never got an outfit shot, so this will have to do as the one for today. :)
USU is in Logan where Josh and I livedwhen we were just married (and we both graduated from USU).  We also lived there for a bit when our kids were really young.  It is always fun to come back and show our boys the things we loved about it when we lived there.  Tonight we took them to dinner at a steakhouse we loved back in the day.
True Blue Aggie Fans!  The boys like to play football, but watching it is a whole different story.  It didn't go so well tonight...We definitely need to come up with some better ideas for the next game.  They were bored at the end and let just say...we ended up leaving early because things were a little wild.

At the end of the day we headed to Aggie Ice Cream for the best ice cream EVER!  I am actually not a big ice cream fan, but this stuff is just amazing.  Especially Lemon Custard...YUm!

Well, thats was our day in a nutshell, have a LOVELY weekend!

Classy and Feminine

I have the cutest sisters.  This cute one lives in California and visited us last week.  We have missed her and her husband so much and it was so good to see them.  I always love how she dresses.  Her style is feminine and classy and I adore her love of all things vintage.  You can check Michelle's blog out here.
Back when I went to visit this cute girl a few weeks ago we had so much fun touring around California and shopping.  She has just moved to a fun new city and I can't wait to visit her again and explore her new town!

When Summer Meets Fall

I thought I would share the guest post that I did for Nautical Stripes this past week.  I have been enjoying the thought of mixing my summer pastels with the earthy tones of fall.  This is what I came up with.
I haven't really done the printed pants yet, and these were my first pair.  Baby steps right?  I thought the good price from Target was worth a little investment (they have some really cute ones right now!) .  I actually really love them!!  Maybe I will get a little braver, who knows right?

Just some fun mommy moments, my cute little 9 year old just earned his Wolf Award in Cub Scouts tonight.  He has been working on it for a year.  I am so proud of him!
And here is just a picture of the cutest 2 year old that I know.  He is so excited to be Mickey Mouse for Halloween and he found this old hat one of the boys got in Disneyland.  He is definitely in love with Mickey.

Stripety Stripes and a Favor

As much as I love my maxi dresses, I am always wondering how to mix them up a bit in how I wear them.  I have loved wearing my maxis as skirts as of late.
I am in need of some help.  Josh and I are planning a trip to New York City in a few weeks and some of your ideas of things you have loved there  I have been there once before and it was a long time ago.  Restaurants, plays, shopping you name it, I would love to hear your favorite things about New York!  Please help a girl out!!  Thanks!!!!

Mixed Up

I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend!!!  We had a weekend full of sports (which I know is what you all want to hear about), Palmer finally figured out football and even scored a touchdown.  His favorite however, was the time he ran across the field and leveled some poor child whos mother probably cringed when it happend (yes I am a total mess when watching these games).
This is the last week of our summer break.  On Saturday night our family was outside as the sun went down.  Josh and Palmer had just mowed the lawn and the night smelled amazing.  One of the only things I regret from this past summer is that we didn't spend more evenings outside.  Josh and I were way into watching Prison Break on Netflix and hurried the boys into bed as quick as we could so we could watch it really wanted to make sure that the boys got a good night's sleep :)  In the next week I am going to try to spend as many evenings as we can outside.

Transition

Whenever I plan on wearing my red jeans I always begin the outfit looking for something to go with them other than black and white.  In the end however it usually ends up as you see here...red, black and white.  I do have to point out however that I went with a grey jacket.  Proud moment.
My thoughts are finally straying to autumn.  Mostly as I am seeing the fashion everywhere I can't help be be excited for it.  My fall transition outfits (although it hasn't been too cool here yet, we have had a few moments) usually include a jacket or cardigan.  I think layering is your best bet.
Tonight Josh and I are preparing to celebrate my oldest son's birthday tomorrow.  Growing up my mom always made a huge deal of our birthdays and I try to make my kids' birthdays special as well.  I can't believe he is turning 9!!  It should be a fun day!!  I hope you all have a lovely weekend!!!!

Sunflowers

My parents have the most beautiful yard and gardens.  In the winter when I go through my summer memories, you know on those particularly dreary days that you need something to toast inside as well as out, our family is always there.  So today's post comes courtesy of their front yard.
This top I felt was perfect for the day as it is called "Cool Ethnic Sunflower," and reminds me of late summer sunflowers.  This is what we are experiencing right now, the wrap up of summer.  I know I talk too much about it, but ours has been particularly spectacular this year.

I went to Michaels today to get something, and they had their Halloween stuff up with fall florals everywhere.  For some reason it smelled like fall (those flowers are fake right?)  I had a smidgen of excitment.  My kids have all chosen what they want to be for Halloween, I have already been boot shopping (online), school starts in a week and a half so I guess it is up to me to get with the program.  I just can't help dragging my feet.  I am hoping that I can get excited once school starts....we'll see :)

Casual

I am pretty sure that I have used that title before...but we were going to go with it.   Hopefully everyone has had a lovely Monday.  Ours was busy and fun!  They boys had their last swimming lesson of the summer, which was so sad.  We had the GREATEST teacher this past summer and they boys learned some serious skills!
We are lucky to start school a week later this year and I plan to take full advantage of it, so we have two weeks left to get all of the summer lovin we can in before our life gets crazy again.  We have had one of the best summers of my life and I am definitely sorry to see it over, but I know that the kids are ready for a new chapter of life.
Hope you all are enjoying these last weeks of summer the their FULLEST!  Falls coming (and I am excited), but I am storing up bunches of summer goodness for the winter ;)

Stay tuned...tomorrow will be a fabulous giveaway!!

Bright White and a Winner!!

Hello Lovelies.  Hope your weekends were WONDERFUL.  We had a good one.  We went to the funeral of my husband's grandmother.  It was one of those peaceful inspiring ones where the person being remembered was just amazing and someone we were all just grateful to have known.  She and her husband we the cutest couple and now they are together again.  She definitely was such a lovely woman, we were all lucky to know her.

After the funeral we headed to my little Palmer's first real football game...it wasn't so lovely.  He played the whole game running with a slight limp from a recent soccer injury.  I was so proud of him that he played so hard.  They ended up losing 25-0.  It's a work in progress.  I am sure it will get better :)

The Winner of the Skincare RX giveaway (from way back...sorry!!) is Jessi from  haircutandgeneralattitude.blogspot.com.  Congratulations Jessi!!

Now a mommy moment...  I read to my boys most nights before they go to bed.  We have discovered that it gets them to quiet down.  We first read scriptures and then we read one or two chapters of a book.  I am a huge lover of the Harry Potter books.  I couldn't wait for the day when I could read them with my boys.  I tried a few times, but they just weren't that into them.

Finally this past few months I tried again and they loved it this time!  We finally finished it and decided to have a little celebration.  We invited my sister and her family over, I made some fun treats and and we watched the first Harry Potter on our projector.
My boys have been characters from the Harry Potter books for a few Halloweens so we had some fun costumes for them to dress up in.  We even had Butterbeer (recipe here) that was SO yummy.  It was a fun little celebration.

A Day...

I am cursed. My computer died, never to live again (that is the professional analysis), my husband's computer is on it's last leg and guess what...? For some reason when I signed into Facebook all of my information is gone back to 6 years ago, which means I also can't sign into Pinterest....my technology life is in the dumps.Cursed I tell you!

My last photo shoot also didn't go that well.  It was a crazy day and pictures weren't taken until it was pretty dark.  So this is the only semi decent shot I got...it really is just one of those days!!!

So on to this dress.  It is one that I have had for a while and sort of forgotten about.  I have always loved the shape and detail but it got buried in the closet.  I was perusing through Madwell's amazing sale going on right now and came to such a cute dress that I really liked (this one to be exact), I just wished it was a little longer...and then I realized I had one in my closet just like that!  That is a good shopping day in my book :)  I tried to accessorize it with turquoise accessories but they were washed out in the photo.  Oh well, imagine them there...

Minty Fresh

Today was Palmer's first tackle football game. It wasn't actually a game but a scrimmage against another team. I was a mess, like a real mess. All of the sudden he just looked so little and I STRUGGLED!
Palmer is a running back which means the quarterback gives him the ball and he runs it for a touchdown. Once when he was running the ball, he was hit really hard and ended up crying (don't tell him I told you). I couldn't go on the field (obviously) and I had to just watch him from across the field feeling bad.

His first real game on Saturday and I am working on not being a total embarrassment.
