Steamed

Alright I don't think I get on a soap box too much (do I???) but I have one tonight.  I am SO BUGGED over this!  I was going to check out one of my favorite style bloggers and I noticed a link under her blog on my google search that I was interested in.  I clicked on it and was sent to 70 pages of women bashing this poor girl.
So I totally get that not everyone is going to love someone's style, but that is the beauty of cyber space isn't it?  You can wander around for hours and hopefully find something that is to your taste.  Style blogs are just that, someone's personal style.  Nobody is telling you that you have to like it or that you have to visit (and for hating this blog these catty women knew quite a bit about it and I am guessing visited it often).  And if you stumble on to a fashion-offensive blog...just leave.
My experience with the blog-o-sphere has been so positive.  Most people are so kind in their comments and if they don't love the outfit, they usually find SOMETHING positive to say (great lighting...).  I have just been raised with the mentality of "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all" and would never dream of assuming my style would suit everyone.  The fact that we are all different is what makes style fun!  Okay I am done, the end (thanks I feel much better).

  2. Well now I'm curious, GOMI maybe? (Hmmm, can't think of any other sites off the top of my head except for some of the really insanely hatful sites and I don't think you're talking about one of those.) It seems like they get can pretty catty at times over there, but I did appreciate how much they stood up for one of my favorite bloggers who was getting seriously plagiarized, to almost a scary-stalker copying and I had thought for long time I was the only one who noticed it. Oh dear, now I'm white knighting...

I do really like this, I have a pair of green jeans as well and I hadn't thought of pairing a striped sweater with them, it's quite cute! (and I'm jealous, it still looks so warm there!)

  3. Love the jeans! I can't get enough green. I totally agree with you on blogger bashing, that is so sad. I don't get it either. Why do you have to bash some poor innocent person cowardly on the internet? Just leave them alone if you're not into it. It should be simple.

  8. I couldn't agree more about that saying "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all". BTW, love that top with those pants! I'm stealing this outfit idea!

  9. I love the green pants with the stripes! I agree, I would never bash another blogger. I think the problem is it's easy for people to say mean things because on the internet you can post things anonymously or hide behind your internet persona.

  12. OMG I get sick to my stomach thinking of things like this. Seriously, who puts the time and energy into putting others down? I've gotten a few really negative comments on my blog (one about me looking like a pregnant horse, one chastising me for "shopping on someone else's dime", one for shopping at Wal-Mart . . .). I used the email required for them to comment to email them back and tell them how I felt about their cowardly ways. I've also been featured on a Slovakian Cosmo in the comment section for not liking my outfit. It's been crazy. But I take it with a grain of salt because the rude people don't come close to the amount of support and positivity that I get with most of my commenters and followers. I just feel bad for these people. I mean, why would you want to revolve your life around that kind of energy? Can you imagine how horrible your life has to be to spend it like that?

  13. People are so ridiculous. I don't even understand why they think they have the right to voice their negative opinions about someone's style. Love this outfit by the way! Green and stripes are fabulous together!

  14. That is crazy! Geez, why do women make such negative comments...or even take the time to do so! Someone told me once on my blog that "you have no life." Ok, that's nice. For me, I like your blog and your outfits! Keep up the great job and don't let negative comments deter you.

  15. Women can be so catty. That is awful! :( One of the reasons I keep coming back to your particular style blog (even if I don't comment that often) is that you are so easy going. I don't feel like I have to go out and buy whatever you're wearing. You have given me some great mix-and-match ideas that I never would have thought of on my own. I'm so glad you're not like those other women. I wouldn't read your blog if you were. :)

  16. I really agree with everything you said! But it happens that I love many different types of styles and I like seeing how differernt people like to accesorize and style their looks. I believe everyone has their own style and are allowed to show it off on their own blog. If someone doesn't like it then they can just leave the page, not post something mean.

I was going to say I love your look :) it's super classy and chic!

Would you like to follow each other?

  17. Couldn't agree more. I have had a really positive experience on the blogosphere also and don't see why anyone would waste time bashing a fellow blogger anyway. Nobody here is forcing people to look at their blog or enjoy their style...so if you come across something you don't like just move on and don't make a big deal out of it.

On a side note, love your outfit! The pants look great on you (great color) and I love that you paired them with the striped top.

  18. honestly, for those individuals that espouse such negativity and criticism on, in perspective, a subject that is supposed to be inspirational and fun and is in no way harming anyone, i pity them. they are pathetic if they have nothing better or more productive to spend their time on, and i wish them a speedy recovery from their boredom and tedium, or, at least, a desire to be wallow quietly in their bored lives.

best to just ignore them, i think.

and now onto other comments.... love your look! the green slacks are darling!

  19. Love the look today. Those green pants were a great purchase!
About your rant...this kind of thing makes me so sad. Adult bullying basically and why on earth are women so catty with one another? I realize we subject ourselves to this (potentially) by posting pictures on a public blog, but it really is supposed to be fun and inspirational even. I agree with you, just keep browsing if you don't like it or comment about something else! Ugh.

  27. I know which poor blogger you are talking about. It's so sad. I'm sure that's why she started keeping a lot of private family stuff off the blog.

My mother always used to say... "Anyone can empathize with a friends suffering, but it takes a fine nature to truly be happy for their success." Often times, people who are close to you will even bash on you from their own insecurities and jealousy. The internet is the first place the ugly side of people come out. It's so unfortunate. I just started my blog not too long ago, and I'm already feeling the coldness of people. So unfortunate...

  28. That is terrible that so many women feel the need to lash out at others behind a booting identity. Just terrible. Women can be terrible to one another and I just don't see the point!

I'm a big fan of black/white stripes with green!! ;)
