Polished

I bought some nail polish on Saturday.  Do you want to know a funny thing about it?  I haven't worn nail polish in years!!  I even threw most of my nail polish away because I had heard a rumor that nail polish goes "bad."  I figured it was about 10 years old and if any polish was bad, it was.  Is that true?  Does nail polish go bad???
I had some friends that kept it in the fridge when I was growing up because it helped it stay "good" longer.  Wow, maybe the maintenance is why I never have worn it.

I have been totally intrigued with all of the fun colors that have been coming out.  I bought some cheapy nail polish from Ross to try it out and see if I liked it...well, I did!  Love it!
I have to admit I am possibly the worst nail polish apply-er in the world, it isn't that great, but I really like it!
I have already chipped it in a couple of places, but oh well.  I like it :)

The color I got was a fun pale pink.  I now need to get some more colors, I think I have a new fetish!

  2. LOVE the tights! Yes painting your nails is quiteeeee addicting once you start. If you're really into it you could try shellac or a polish similar you can get at drug stores and it stays on for at least two weeks before chipping (it's amazing!)

You look so cute! Love keeping up with you!

  3. The nail polish world is exciting! I like to think of myself as a knowledgeable pink polish applier (its nearly the only color i wear) and if you like pale or light pink, try applying a white base coat first then the pink! it will look awesome! Another tip is put vasaline around your cuticles and the over pant wont dry onto the skin, you can just wipe it away with a q-tip!

As for "going bad".. i think it would just depend on how much you use it, more uses means the bottle is open longer and more air is getting to the polish, but that's just my theory.

  11. I'm loving this whole look you on, Emily...the polka dot tights and the turquoise statement necklace really make the outfit stand out! Nail polish doesn't last long, it'll get really goopy and impossible to apply if it's old.

  18. It's not so much that it goes bad because bacteria can't live in it however over time it will dry up, get thick, separate things like that you can add some nail polish thinner to it when this happens its about $3 for a big bottle at beauty stores. 10 years is quite a long time I would say just buy new for sure because back then most polishes were not 3 free. Definitely don't put it in the fridge tho... lol :) that will just make it thick to apply and longer to dry.

I love your necklace what a statement piece and those tights are super cute!

  20. First of all, I LOVE that you are rockin the polka dot tights! The fit of that dress is pretty fabulous too!

I think you chose the best time to dive back into the world of nail polishes. There are SO many great colors out there! I never used to wear it either but last year I decided I would & it seriously makes me so happy to see a fun color on my nails. (And I got a lot better at applying it after lots & lots of practice) There are so many fun ideas on Pinterest too of creative ways to wear it. My fave lately has been having one 'accent' nail (ya know, all pink with my ring finger a teal or something). Have fun trying out new shades!

I've recently become addicted to nail polish, too. =) Only, my problem is that I only have time once in a blue moon to apply it. so, I put on a pretty fresh coat and then wear it until my nails look like they belong on a 13-year old girl... a chipped, hot mess! lol
